  1. Battery Health: A weak battery doesn't just mean poor backup; it also causes the phone's processor to throttle, making the entire device slow. While iPhones show a "Battery Health" percentage, be aware that this figure can be artificially manipulated by dishonest sellers.

  2. Processor Health (The CPU Throttling Test): This is the most important test.

    • Download the free app "CPU Throttling Test" from the Google Play Store.

    • Run the test for at least 15 minutes.

    • Observe the performance graph. If it's mostly green, the processor is healthy. If the graph is mostly red, it means the processor is degraded and constantly overheating. Walk away from the deal.

Beyond the phone itself, the smartwatch industry and mainly  the Apple Watch as a powerful safety tool, especially for elderly parents or individuals living alone.
